On these, all day sessions participants are often surprised by the accumulative effect of these complementary methods, in enriching their experience of themselves and the world around them.

While the format of the day retreat is primarily aimed at meeting the needs of people who have completed or nearly completed, an eight-week foundation course, it could also be suitable for anyone else who has some prior experience of mindfulness meditation, e.g. focusing on body and breath. If you are not sure whether or not the day retreat would be appropriate for your present needs, then feel free tocontact us.

As well as our regularDay Retreats to everyone engaged in mindfulness training. 

For All Day and Weekend Retreats:

  1. Arrive well before the start time.

  2. The retreat will be in silence, with space towards the end to speak from the silence.

  3. Bring vegetarian lunch (extra portions) to share. (No Meat/Fish Please) 

  4. Bring your own meditation gear (if you have one) however we do provide some.

  5. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided,

  6. Bring your water bottle/ medicines, etc...

  7. No magazines, books, mobiles/ I-pads/ laptops on the retreat.

  1. All Day Retreats in Edinburgh are held at the Edinburgh University Chaplaincy every second Saturday of the month.

​​A retreat is essentially a period of time; a day, a few days or longer; reserved for the practice of meditation or related disciplines. On the one day mindfulness retreat that we run as a supplement to the eight week course, participants will have the opportunity to practise a succession of mindfulness meditations, such as the body scan, mindfulness of breath and sounds, mindful walking etc, with silence in between, thus providing more depth and continuity in the practices themselves than would normally be possible during a two hour class. The Loving Kindness meditation is also introduced on the day retreat.
